  • What areas do you cover?
    We cover the town of Ely in Cambridgeshire and some of the surrounding villages. Please use the contact form to confirm lessons in your location.
  • Do you offer automatic lessons?
    We currently only teach manual transmission however we hope to be teaching automatic transmission in 2025.
  • What hours do you work?
    My Spring / Summer hours are as: Monday - closed Tuesday - 09.00 - 19.30 Wednesday - 09.00 - 19.30 Thursday - 09.00 - 17.00 Friday - closed Saturday - 09.00 - 17.00 Sunday - 09.00 - 12.30
  • Which test centres do you cover?
    We would normally suggest those most local; Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds or Kings Lynn.
  • How many driving lessons will I need to take?
    Driving is a skill that some people learn quicker than others. The Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency states that on average a person requires approximately 44 hours of professional lessons combined with approximately 22 hours of private practice. We will monitor your progress at the end of each lesson using our free pupil app 'Total Drive' and record your progress together, this will help us assess how close to test standard you are.
  • Do I need to pass the theory test before I can start lessons?
    No. In fact it is a good idea to learn the theory whilst you are learning the practical as it can bring the subject alive making it easier to understand and remember.
  • What do I need to do before I start driving?
    You must have a Provisional Licence You can apply for a provisional driving licence quickly and easily online from Directgov or by completing the D1 application form available at most post offices All applications made by filling in the D1 form will also require original documentation to be sent to the DVLA to confirm your identity The minimum age, which you can legally, drive a car on public roads is 17 If you are disabled and in receipt of mobility allowance, the minimum age is 16 Until the day you pass the practical part of the Driving Test you are not allowed to drive on your own It is also worthwhile having an eyesight test to check that you meet the minimum eyesight standard for driving.
  • How much do you charge?
    From the 1st January, 2024 my hourly rates for new pupils are as follows; Learner Drivers Per 60 mins £42 Per 120 mins £84 Full Licence Holders (for pass plus, refresher, and eco driving training etc) Per 60 mins £45 Per 120 mins £90
  • Are you a fully qualified instructor?
    Yes I am a fully Qualified Driving Instructor or ADI (Approved Driving Instructor)
  • How long is each lesson?
    The standard lesson time is 2 hours; I tend to find that this suits most learners the best.
  • Are you CRB checked?
    Yes I am and all Driving Instructors will have been CRB checked as part of the process.
  • Do you offer post-test training to improve my skills after I pass?
    Yes I offer Pass Plus. You can find further information about PP within my website.
